3 THINGS YOU CAN DO THIS WEEK TO GET ORGANIZED

Oct 01, 2020

Being organized or even the appearance of organization can help you feel less stressed, more focused, and increase productivity levels. Work/life balance is hard enough, let alone the times of COVID-19. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by juggling of tasks, working from home, family schedules, and back-to-back Zoom meetings.

When things start to spin, here are 3 quick ways you can to keep some peace and help organize your work life. [We will start with the easiest or quickest task to the more complex task.]

1.) Clean off your desk!
This sounds like a no-brainer but sometimes before you know it, your desk is the kitchen sink and the filing cabinet. Nothing is worse than not being able to find what you are looking for. Take 15-20 minutes out of your week to clean off your desk. You’ll thank me later.

2.) Organize your files on your computer.
This one can take some time, so focus on the little things first. Organize one at a time, delete files you don’t need anymore, and create consistency and systems. Just like your physical desk- your desktop needs a deep cleaning every now and again too.

3.) Clean out your email.
I saved this one for last because depending on how well you keep up with your email this can be quite the task. I remember helping some clients clean up their email and it taking about a week in itself.
But if you keep up with it, it will only take 15 mins out of your week (I promise). Organize your emails, create new folders, and don’t forget to UNSUBSCRIBE and delete unnecessary emails.

If you do these 3 things on a consistent basis, they will start to become part of your routine and no longer need hours of attention. Which means you can tackle that next big thing on your list. Like identifying your perfect Zoom background, building the perfect “work from home” playlist or upping your game as “at home” barista.
